Injury Screenings

Identify Risk Before It Becomes Injury

PerformWell’s injury risk screenings evaluate posture, movement patterns, flexibility, and strength. Having performed over a thousand screening, we give you and your organization a clear picture of vulnerabilities before they become career-altering problems.

Your Body Gives Signals Before It Breaks Down. Screenings Read Them.

Most injuries don’t happen without warning. Strength imbalances, restricted mobility, faulty movement patterns, and compensatory habits accumulate over time — and under the load of a demanding season, they become injuries.

A PerformWell injury screening identifies those patterns before they become problems. It’s not a generic functional movement assessment — it’s discipline-specific, accounting for what your art form actually demands of your body and where you’re most vulnerable given those demands.

Every screening concludes with a written report of findings and specific, actionable recommendations. Not a list of things that are wrong — a clear picture of what to work on and why.

Pointe Readiness Screening For Dance Studios

Transitioning to pointe work is one of the highest-risk moments in a young dancer’s career — not because pointe is inherently dangerous, but because starting before the body may be ready is. PerformWell’s pointe readiness screening evaluates every physical factor that determines safe transition.

Results are shared with the studio with communication with the student and parents as appropriate — with specific guidance on what to work on if a student isn’t quite ready, rather than just a yes/no determination. Having a partnership between a studio and PerformWell can give an added dimension of wellness to this important step in a dancer’s career.

Not Just A Score. A Roadmap.

A PerformWell screening doesn’t end with a list of problems. It ends with a clear picture of what matters and what to do about it.

Common Questions

Your Screening Questions, Answered

Any performing artist or athlete entering a high-demand season, returning from a period of reduced training, preparing for auditions, or managing a history of recurring injury. Screenings are also recommended for any transition time.

Injury Risk Screening can also be done as an entry into our Wellness and Performance Programming, and is available to performers and athletes of all levels.

A standard sports medicine evaluation typically addresses a presenting problem — something that’s already injured. A PerformWell screening is proactive. It looks at the whole system before anything is wrong, with specific attention to the movement demands of your discipline. A general screen won’t test whether a ballet dancer’s hip has the range and strength their technique requires. We do.
The written report is designed to be useful for you, your teachers or coaches, and your other healthcare providers. It distinguishes between findings that need clinical attention (and we’ll recommend follow-up PT for those) and findings that can be addressed through training modification or targeted exercise — which we’ll provide.

Contact us with a brief description of your organization, your discipline, and approximately how many performers you’d like screened. We’ll follow up with a conversation to scope the logistics, format, and timing.
